Be here now
Good morning,
Lately, I’ve been thinking about an old zen phrase that might help you through long days.
Plus, today’s newsletter helps with your habits to make this week full of positivity and growth.

“Chop wood, carry water” is a Zen Buddhist phrase for a mindful life.
It comes from the idea that enlightenment (or success) is not about escaping daily life. Or reaching a magical state of perfection.
It’s about being fully present and finding purpose in everyday moments.
This week, instead of rushing through your days and obsessing over your goals, focus on each task at hand.
No matter how mundane.
See, hear, and feel what’s going on around you. Notice the beauty of the world—the warmth of the sun, the sound of the birds, and the peace in your heart.
While you ground yourself in the here and now, you’ll remember two fundamental truths:
- True growth happens in the journey. Not just in reaching the destination. It’s the daily effort and discipline that get you there.
- Happiness is woven into the everyday. Stop waiting for it to come after you achieve something. It won’t. Instead, shift your perspective to embrace and enjoy each moment, even if it’s not what you wanted it to be.
So, the next time you feel a little stuck or overwhelmed, come back to this phrase:
Chop wood, carry water.
This week, commit to finding extra money. This could take as little as 5 minutes!
Maybe it’s hidden in plain sight:
- Check for credit card rewards
- Use up gift cards
- See if there’s cash in your jacket from last fall
- Look at old bank accounts you may have forgotten about
Amazing opportunities are on their way.
