Ingredients

  • Apples (Any kind you prefer. We love Gala and Granny Smith for snacking)
  • Peanut butter (or other spread like Nutella, sunflower butter, etc)
  • Mini marshmallows, cereal (like Cheerios), or nuts will all work!

Estimated Cost: ~$2.25 per apple split into multiple snacks. But it varies depending on the peanut butter and kind of apples you buy. Keep reading for how to keep costs down.

Directions:

  1. Cut the apples into slices and then cut the full apple slice in half
  2. Coat each apple slice half with peanut butter or the spread of your choice.
  3. Put the marshmallows on top of one of the slices. (standing up)
  4. Smush your two apple halves together in the shape of a mouth. It’s honestly that easy!

Smart Money-Saving Tips

  • Start with what you have. Check your pantry first before buying new. Swap in cereal, snack mix, or nuts for the marshmallows. You most likely won’t need to buy everything new.
  • Use store brands. Generic cereal, marshmallows, and nuts taste the same at half the price.
  • Check for sales on apples in the fall when they are plentiful.
