Thankful Thursday

Hi there! This is a new series I’m testing out that shares 5 things I’m grateful for from the week. If you enjoy the series, please leave a comment below so I know to keep it going. Thanks!

1. An Unexpected Party Visit

My 5-year-old asked me to attend her Valentine’s Party at school yesterday. I wasn’t sure about this. For one, only the 3 “room moms” go. They don’t normally open their preschool parties up to all the parents. Plus, I was already trying to work from home with the other two kids home from school.

But she asked a second time. So, I contacted her teacher and we arranged it. As soon as I stepped into the party room, her face lit up. We had fun, she kept giving me sly smiles, and then she asked me to be her Valentine at the end. My heart melted. And I’m so grateful I said “yes” to her request. Because now it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.

2. A Family Valentine’s Dinner

We made time for a candlelight surf and turf dinner on our night off of activities. It was fun and different! Not much more effort than regular dinner, but a definite highlight to the week.

3. My Son Didn’t Freak Out

So, this week, my 12-year-old’s tennis coach told him his parents bought him an 80-year-old man’s racket. 😂 Apparently, even though we followed all the dimensions he gave us, we still got it wrong. (It turns out that the distribution of weight matters)

I was worried my son would get embarrassed. He’s at that age where it could be funny, or we could have just shamed the living daylights out of him. But he just shrugged it off, and I’m so grateful. I’d much rather make old man jokes to him while we find a new one.

4. That Everything is so Easy to Get

We ran out of coffee this week. I was being stubborn because I hate making time to go to the store. So, I cleaned out the cabinet and found enough hidden to hold us over for a few days. By the time I went, I was grateful it was so easy to replenish the supply. Having easy access to food and drink is something I take for granted.

5. Great Weather

It was 60 degrees here yesterday. In FEBRUARY. This time of year is hardest on my mental health, but the weather is making a huge difference.
