5 January Money Moves
Hi friend! Once a month I’m highlighting real-life ways I saved, earned, and invested in the hopes we all learn and share.
Here are 5 money moves I made this month.
1. February is For Skill Building
I’m doing a content challenge for February in which I post an article each day of the month. I’m hoping this will result in future income, but regardless it will help with skill-building. And that’s never a bad thing.
Check out the story of 1000 pots in this week’s newsletter >>
2. Pantry Challenge
I’ll have the full report on the site February 6th! It’s not a traditional one, as I’m not cutting off my other grocery spending. But naturally, I’ve spent less on groceries and am cutting down enormously on food waste.
Here’s how it’s gone so far:
Day 1: Clean out the pantry. Put all food that needs to be used up in a tub on the counter.
Day 2: Made pumpkin muffins with canned pumpkin, flour, and old honey that needed to be used up.
Day 3: Made chili from beans, diced tomatoes, and paste.
I had to take a break when my hubby went out of town (survival mode). But I’m starting again today. We’ll see what else is in store in the days ahead!
3. I set money aside for a family member
We have a teen relative who will need money in 2 to 3 years. So, I set aside money in a CD for her this month. I wanted to have a separate account earmarked for her, and it’s earning more than it would sitting in a regular savings account.
4. I Canceled an Unused Subscription
I signed up for a business subscription that I thought would be helpful. But I’m just not using it. Meanwhile, it’s a monthly charge! So, with one simple email, I saved $19 a month.
5. I Adopted a New Mantra
The other day, I was in the middle of a tough workout and the fitness instructor stopped and shouted, “turn doubt into determination.”
She was referring to surviving the workout 😉. But I’ve been doubting myself in other ways lately, like parenting and business, and thought it was such an amazing mantra for life.
We all have self-doubt and limiting beliefs. But if you can turn doubt into determination, you’ll never stop. And that, eventually, will lead to your biggest wins.
